Bio

Greg Betts is a designer and creator of bespoke furniture. Each piece of work has been created with reused, reclaimed and sustainable materials. Greg uses traditional methods of construction to compose his furniture and shapes each piece of work by hand using his favourite spoke shave, cutting with a blade instead of using sand paper.

Greg has been making furniture since 1975.  Over the years the styles and fashions have changed as have the timbers he loves to work with; Rimu, Matai, Miro, Totara and Kauri, and after coming to Wanganui discovering the benefits of Elm, Oak and Oregon.
Chair making is Greg’s specialist area and he has a wide range of styles from cottage to contemporary, all made with care and a true craftsmanship. He is passionate about putting some pride back into the craft, making furniture the way it was made 50 years ago to a standard that will last for generations.
Greg left his studio workshop in Wellington and came to Wanganui in 1986 after following a tip that the old Brickworks in Bastia Hill might be available.
